Hey there,
Well, I've been attending Mars Hill Downtown (formerly Tabellas) and I recommend any and all people, sinner or saint, to come by and see what the Lord Jesus is doing in this sin drenched city.
It has been the most incredible 5 months of my Christian walk and after many years and some 4 churches, I've finally found my home church. I became a member 2 weeks ago but have been serving on the Levites Crew (Levites in the Bible were caretakers of God's Temple) since my 2nd week attending Mars Hill Downtown.
I could go on and on and on about how powerfully I've witnessed the Holy Spirit moving in this small congregation (about 200 per service) but I won't take up all your space.
I just wanted to say thanks for your words and for showing me a pic from this facilities' old days. Christ IS being honored in our church, people are coming to know Him as Lord, the surrounding community of drug addicts (of which I used to be a part), homeless people, etc, etc, are learning that we do care for them and God's Holy Spirit is moving through this city :-D
Again thanks and I hope you come and check us out :-)

In Christ our Hope, Jonathan

AL: Jonathan, thanks for stopping by and letting us know how the church is going there in downtown. Sounds like it's a wonderful place. Blessings to you and your fellow worshipers.

Hey I recieved your comment on my blog and thought to check your blog out. I find your aspect on the topic very interesting as well. I love the perspective you brought comparing the similarities of the church to the night club. I agree in so many ways we are the night club. Especially when we address the fact that we are all sinners and only saved through grace. I am currently attending the Mars Hill Eastside Campus in hopes of becoming a member at Mars Hill. Me and my fiance Neil are looking to serve at Mars Hill in the near future. Are you a member of Mars Hill as well? It's nice to meet you. God bless.

Great comments Curtis and Laura!

Curtis, I think you bring up a great point. The temptation to adopt some of the Nightclub's former elements can be very tempting, so the church will have to use a great deal of discernment when making those descisions. There's a point where you stop being set apart and begin conforming.

Laura, It sounds like your church has successfully negotiated this transition. Our church might benefit from your wisdom in how to make the transition. Nice to know that the coffee thing transcends Seattle. I thought we were the only "junkies" out there.

The church does tend to follow the world, even though it should be the other way around. While I think this funky building may be cool to use as a church I hope that they will not follow the ways that were there before.
